Sample of the Mathematics Placement Exam

This exam is a SAMPLE of the Norwich Mathematics Placement Exam. Completing this sample should take 15 minutes or less.

There are three sections, Arithmetic, Algebra, and Precalculus, with 3 questions in each section. The actual exam has 20 questions in each section. You will begin with the Arithmetic section, proceed to the Algebra section, and finish with the Precalculus section.

After each section this sample test will check your responses and show you the correct answers. The actual test will NOT show you the correct answers although it will tell you your placement level.

Make sure you have a pencil and plenty of paper available to work the problems. Arrange a comfortable space to write near your computer.

Do NOT use a calculator.

Do NOT press the Back or Reload buttons on your browser while taking any part of the exam.

If your Internet connection is disconnected during the test, don't worry. You may continue with the exam. You will need to reconnect before moving to the next exam section or before submitting your answers for grading.
