Transferring Web Pages to the
Faculty Web Server

Basic Steps:

When you have finished creating your Web pages, you will need to save the pages to the faculty Web server; Webber2, Please follow the steps listed below.

1.

Make sure you have a "Y drive".
Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and look for a directory that looks similar to the image to the right. Open this drive and make sure you see a folder with your username as the title.

NOTE: If you do not see a Y drive, please contact the NU HelpDesk at 802-485-2456, or send an e-mail to helpdesk@norwich.edu.

You can save files to the Y:\ drive just as you would to the C:\ drive or A:\ drive. Click File, Save As.

Be sure to name your file without spaces and without capital letters.
Click Save.

2.

That’s it! You have transferred your files to the Web server.
To test your pages, open your favorite Web browser (typically Netscape Communicator or Internet Explorer) and enter the address for your web page. Your web page address always follows a standard format:

http://www2.norwich.edu/yourusername/your foldername/yourfilename
